Teamkom

Teamkom is an enterprise HR tool for companies to manage performance reviews. It helps nurture and develop employees by making it easier for managers to gather feedback and revisit insights.

User Research & PRD

The primary challenge during this project was to fight complexity and build a system that simplified intricated workflows and interactions. There was a set of initial requirements with very little flexibility, mainly because the tool was meant to be used by enterprise companies with rigid HR and compliance needs.

The first task was flushing out those requirements, spend as much time as possible talking to users, stakeholders, and trying to identify various hypothesis as to how the system should be structured.

Wireframes & Usability Testing

I then moved on to testing those hypotheses. I experimented with different patterns to accomplish the outlined requirements and continually gathered feedback and input on it. It was essential to try and be as creative as possible when solving specific interaction challenges. These are some of the wireframes we worked on:

Mockups

Once we were confident the lower fidelity designs did a good job addressing the initial requirements, I started working on the visual layer. We re-utilized many components throughout the platform, and it meant I could move very fast once we decided what the overall look & feel was going to be, and how the main UI components would be styled.

Landing Page

Designing a landing page is often about writing compelling copy and building an interface to highlight it. We identified who would be looking at the landing page and what their most pressing point points were. The goal was to write copy that makes it irresistible for them to sign up – "This is exactly what I was looking for."

Wrapping up

Our last step was organizing all assets for hand-off and making sure we had covered as many edge cases as possible. Teamkom was very challenging. It taught me a lot about designing easy to use products even when dealing with very complex requirements.
